Jeremy LaBeree

Walton County fugitive arrested again after he was mistakenly released from jail (with MUG)

During a traffic stop, a Florida Highway Patrol officer took into custody a fugitive from justice wanted in Walton County. On Monday night, the trooper stopped a vehicle being driven by Jeremy LaBeree at the intersection of Coy Burgess Loop and State Road 83 in DeFuniak Springs.

Last summer, the 23-year-old eluded local, state, and federal authorities as part of the U.S. Marshal’s “Operation Falcon” round-up.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office took part in the nationwide manhunt for fugitives on a wide array of charges.  The Santa Rosa Beach resident was wanted in Walton County for obstruction of child custody. LaBeree was also wanted in Marion County, Fla., where he was mistakenly released from jail last May.

During the traffic stop in DeFuniak Springs, LaBeree initially gave the trooper a false name. A passenger in the vehicle said that she knew the driver as Jeremy. LaBeree was arrested and immediately charged with obstruction by disguise and transported to the Walton County Jail.

LaBeree is being held without bond for Marion County and the Florida Department of Corrections.
