ECAR passes resolution in support of F-35
The Emerald Coast Association of Realtors' Board of Directors unanimously passed a resolution Friday in support of the Joint Strike Fighter (F-35) program that is being moved to Eglin A.F.B.
The move is in response to legal action instigated by a neighboring community in an effort to halt the move.
"The military is the backbone of our community and we want to show our support for them," said ECAR President Anita Williams, explaining the association's official position. She also noted that the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program would have a positive effect on the local economy.
The resolution states, "The Emerald Coast Association of Realtors fully supports the mission to locate the F-35's at Eglin Air Force Base." Barring the outcome of possible litigation, the first F-35's are currently scheduled to arrive at Eglin in March 2011.
