With a knack for awkward conversations, Santa Rosa Beach resident Tommy Wooldridge has found an outlet to share his hilarious, but endearing attempts at landing a date — the Internet.

Wooldridge's love for filmmaking began in middle school when he would make prank and stunt videos for fun. Last year, the Nashville Film Institute graduate, entered a Blink-182 video contest. Submissions were to promote the band's 2012 European Tour.

In his video submission, Wooldridge used the pop-punk band's lyrics to pick up girls around the NFI campus. While he didn't get any dates, he did win the contest. His video not only went viral on YouTube, but earned him lifetime tickets to future Blink-182 shows.

"They're my favorite band, so I was really pumped about that," he said.

After the hype, Wooldridge decided to try the concept out again. Only this time he used Taylor Swift poetry. With yet another successful short, he got the attention of Vevo, a music video website. Now, what was once a contest submission has become a regular online show called "Lyric Lines," which appears online every Thursday.

In each episode, Wooldridge is seen approaching unsuspecting girls, while a friend films in the distance. In his quiet voice, Wooldridge will almost whispers lyrics from musicians such as Ne-Yo, Usher and Justin Bieber. Most girls just laugh and politely decline his advances. It is then when Wooldridge reveals his guise and offers release forms.

"Most of the time, they're really nice about it," the 23-year-old said. "But while filming just the other day, when I told a girl I was kidding and she got mad and said 'That's messed up.' So then, I get even more scared to talk to girls."
