 25 years ago — 1988

Santa Rosa Golf and Beach Club opened its nine new holes for play.

Winter visitors to South Walton became so numerous they set up their own Snowbird Roost.

The state Department of Transportation agreed to install caution lights at the intersection of U.S. 331 and U.S. 98.

  20 years ago — 1993

Freeport Elementary School and several homes sustained significant damage after two tornadoes ripped through Walton County.
