Walton County ’s motion to dismiss a case against it for establishing the Department of Public Safety and officers with arrest powers was denied by Judge Remington.

Walton County comprehensive plan revisions regarding hurricane evacuations, population data and vegetative communities and habitats were completed and sent to the Department of Community Affairs.

Eighty-nine people registered at the official opening of the Walton County Snowbird Landing.

10 years ago — 2003

Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast hosted a group of Japanese visitors who were planning a hospital in Japan , Kochi Medical Center , which would be the first hospital to be owned by local government but operated by private business organizations.

The re-routing of the eastern end of County Road 30A continued as the final section of U.S. Hwy. 98 continued a widening project.
