30 years ago — 1984

The Walton County Commission approved a 17-mile bike path along County Road 30A, voting to include the community project in its 1984-85 budget.

Drs. Paul Odom, Charles Barniv and Ron Causton opened the South Walton Medical Center on U.S. 98.

 

25 years ago — 1989

The South Walton Utilities Board of Directors voted to expand water service to an area in Mack Bayou.

Gulf Power held a switch-throwing ceremony to send 115,000 volts of electricity through four cables buried under Choctawhatchee Bay . The new $15.8 million transmission line was to serve Destin and South Walton.
