25 years ago — 1989

The Parks and Recreation Council of South Walton announced its first Beach Blast at Ed Walline Park.

 

20 years ago — 1994

Walton County commissioners jumped on the bandwagon with Okaloosa County by agreeing to pressure officials to ban live rock harvesting in state waters.

High water bills received by some South Walton residents could be due to faulty or wasteful irrigation systems.

Walton officials announced that U.S. 98 had reached its maximum traffic capacity between Mack Bayou Road and the western intersection of U.S. 98 and County Road 30A, affecting development within a seven-mile radius, from Grayton Beach to Destin.
