25 years ago — 1989

The South Walton Education Task Force announced plans for a 50-year birthday party for Bay Elementary School .

The Florida Senate approved a bill requiring residents and visitors to buy an annual saltwater fishing license.

The South Walton Tourist Development Council opened its first park, Ed Walline Park in Santa Rosa Beach .

 

20 years ago — 1994

Plans  to build a new Visitors Information Center for the South Walton Tourist Development Council were delayed since a state ruling declared a small portion of the site as jurisdictional wetlands.
