30 years ago — 1984

Florida State Bank opened at Sandestin, with Peter Bos as chairman of the board.

                          

20 years ago — 1994

The Conservation, Recreation and Greenways Task Force volunteer group requests Walton County Board of Commissioners to ban personal watercraft rentals on the Gulf and bay beaches in South Walton citing regulatory and safety concerns.

More volunteers were needed to clean the tar off the 26 miles of beaches in Walton.

A planned South Walton Tourist Development Council beachside park on Old 98 and a neighboring restaurant are to share parking spots, even though there was opposition to the plan.
