A 12:45 a.m., a tornado touched down in Santa Rosa Beach , uprooting trees and damaging structures.

Walton County Commissioners were considering establishing the county’s first recycling center at Blue Mountain Beach .

Judson Cole, management consultant and former chief executive officer of a Fortune 500 company, was named executive director of the South Walton Conservation and Development Trust.

Four commercial fishermen, one from Santa Rosa Beach , two from Destin and one from Fort Walton Beach , were arrested following an investigation into illegal live-rock harvesting in which the men had 1.046 pounds of the rock in their possession.

State unemployment figures released for the month of September show decreases in the jobless rates in Okaloosa and Walton counties compared to a year ago.
