A WALMART IN THE WORKS (PHOTOS)

Sounds of snapping pines and machinery filled the air as heavy equipment and chainsaw operators worked in unison to fell trees and flatten a section of a 116-acre-wood plat, as they make way for the new Walmart in South Walton County.  Construction of the 78,290-square-foot building at the intersection of U.S. Highway 98 and West Hewett Road is expected to take less than eight months. The facility is Phase I of Topsail West development, which will include shops, restaurants, office space and senior and family housing developments. For more photos from the scene, see waltonsun.com
