FWB woman hurt in South Walton wreck
A Fort Walton Beach woman was badly hurt Tuesday afternoon after her car overturned twice on U.S. Highway 98 in Walton County, near Christian International church..
Kristin Manning, 23, was still in the emergency room at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola on Tuesday night. She suffered critical injuries in the wreck just after 3:30 p.m., Florida Highway Patrol troopers reported.
Manning was headed east on U.S. 98 near Old Ferry Road in Point Washington behind a van that was towing a trailer, an FHP crash investigator said in a report. She was traveling faster than the van, hit it and spun out of control, according to the report.
When her left-side tires dug into the pavement, Manning's Volkswagen Jetta rolled over twice and landed on its roof in the grass median.
The van fishtailed and jackknifed into the inside eastbound lane.
The van's occupants, 64-year-old driver Maurice Harrison and Mary Harrison, also 64, both of Frisco, Texas, were unhurt, according to the FHP.
Everyone was wearing seatbelts and the crash was not alcohol-related, according to the report. Charges are pending.
