Sheriff's Office encourages 'safety habits' after 'sexual crime' is reported in Seagrove (UPDATED)
SEAGROVE BEACH – A woman from out of town in her 50s was the victim of a sex crime earlier this week, and lawmen are looking for a suspect, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday.
The sex crime was reported between 11 and 11:30 p.m. Monday, said spokeswoman Camile Cox. The woman was staying in a rental property in Seagrove Beach, Cox said. The Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that the suspect is a white male, but did not provide any further identifying traits.
Cox would not say what type of sex crime was being investigated.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to follow “basic personal safety habits” when traveling alone or staying alone in a rental property, the release said.
This is a developing story, check back for more information.
