Walton County Coastal Branch Library gears up for summer

The Friends of the Coastal Branch Library of Walton County are at work helping the branch achieve success.

A used book sale was held earlier this month with proceeds going to provide support for the Coastal Branch.  A huge thank you to all book sale volunteers and the public for supporting the library with their generous donations and book purchases.  The next book sale will be held Oct. 25 and 26. To volunteer or donate books for the fall sale contact the main desk of the Coastal Branch Library.

The Friends' Gift Shop has books available for sale continuously at the library's main desk.

The Friends of the Coastal Branch Library's artist of the month for June is quilter, Mary Zahner. At an early age Mary developed a love of the arts, and a talent for sewing. She created her first quilt 35 years ago. While that first attempt was a primitive piece, she now has a passion for modern art quilts.  Mary's quilts will be on display through June at the library.

Exciting things are happening all summer at the Walton County Coastal Branch Library. Wiley Selman will hold free ukulele lessons for ages 6-14, Mondays, 10 a.m., in June. Class size is limited.  For more information call Wiley Selman at 850-231-4527.

The children's summer reading program, Dig Into Reading, begins in June.  Get your new library card today for Dig Into Reading and join in the fun with each story you read.

Abrakadoodle will present an art and story lesson June 5. On June 12, Teen Team presents Dig into Fairy Tales. The Muellers' will present Dig into Rocket Balloons June 19, and we will Dig into Legos on June 26.
