On Friday, Sept. 20, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit stopped a vehicle on I-10 at the 83 mile marker for a traffic violation for following to close to another vehicle.

Upon contact, a K-9 alerted on the vehicle and deputies conducted a search and found $103,820 inside the vehicle. The money was seized and placed in evidence.

The driver was issued a written warning for the traffic violation and was released from the scene.

Catherine Rodriguez with the Sheriff's Office said no more details were available at this time.

"It's part of an ongoing investigation and I cannot release any more information at this time," Rodriguez wrote in an email. "Also if you do not have a money couriers license you cannot carry more than $10,000 cash."
