Woman asks officer to 'dance' and 'whip' her
A DeFuniak Springs woman was arrested in Crestview after calling a deputy a “hottie,” trying to dance with a police officer, and asking the officer to “whip" her.
When a Crestview Police Department officer arrived in response to a reckless driver call near Interstate 10, he found an off-duty Holmes County Deputy Sheriff standing next to a red Mercury Mountaineer.
The deputy told the officer the Mountaineer’s driver forced him off the road before he began following the SUV. The deputy reported the driver to the police and detained her until they arrived.
According to a Crestview Police Department arrest report, the officer noted the woman was laughing and waiving her arms “erratically” while she was seated in her vehicle. Then she lit a cigarette. When the officer asked for her driver’s license and registration, the woman fumbled as she looked for it. She then turned to the officer and said, “I thought the (deputy) was a hottie and was trying to flirt with him.”
The officer also noted the woman’s speech was slurred and he could smell alcohol. She passed the officer her driver’s license, but nothing else. The officer asked the woman for her registration and proof of insurance and she said, “I already gave it to you, silly.” The officer reminded her she had not.
The officer asked the woman to step out of her vehicle and she refused, explaining again she thought the deputy was a “hottie” and she was only trying to “flirt.” She eventually complied and stepped out, grabbing a bottle of water and falling against the side of her SUV. She drank the entire bottle of water, the deputy noted in the arrest report.
The officer told the woman he suspected her to have been drinking and driving and asked that she submit to a series of field sobriety tests. She agreed, stating, “I only had two beers. I can’t be that drunk.” She also requested the officer call her sister because she was a correctional officer and would be able to “get me out of this.”
The officer demonstrated the “Walk and Turn” exercise and explained the instructions of the test to the woman. She asked if the officer wanted to dance with her. When the officer wasn’t interested in dancing, the woman began the test, explaining, “I wouldn’t be able to do this if I was drunk.”
She didn’t perform well. While she was walking, she began laughing and singing a song. The officer told the woman she could stop and she replied, “No, I want to keep dancing.” She finally stopped and asked the officer if he was “happy?”
Next, the officer showed the woman how to perform the “One Leg Stand” exercise. She began standing on her right leg, then switched several times before moving into a stationary march. She also held her arms horizontally out from her side and swayed them, according to the report. She told the officer she wanted to try the exercise again.
The woman also performed poorly on the “Finger to Nose” exercise.
The officer arrested the woman and she stated several times, “I’ve been bad. I want you to whip me.”
The officer found four cans of Natural Ice beer under a sweater in the woman’s front seat. She kept telling the officer she was just going to the store and couldn’t understand why she was being arrested.
The woman’s license said she was from DeFuniak Springs. The officer asked her if she was from DeFuniak Springs why she was going to a store in Crestview.
“I’m in DeFuniak now,” The woman replied. “It wouldn’t matter if I had 12 beers or two beers or no beers. You’re just being mean to me.”
The woman was taken to jail March 13.
