Wreck snarls traffic on U.S. 98 in Miramar Beach

MIRAMAR BEACH — A wreck on U.S. Highway 98 near the Silver Sands Factory Outlets snarled traffic for over an hour early Monday evening.

Two cars wrecked about 5:30 p.m. near the intersection with Geronimo Street, according to the Sammy Sanchez, a spokesperson for the South Walton Fire Department.

Sanchez said two people were injured. They were taken to Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast, according to the Walton County Sheriff's Office.

Westbound traffic on U.S. 98 was blocked for over an hour while rescuers cleared the scene.

FHP is investigating the cause of the wreck.
