Floyd Lee Porter
Floyd Lee Porter of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., formerly of Destin, Fla., and Dallas, Texas, passed away Jan. 4, 2013.He was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to the late Henry and Nina Porter.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of DeFuniak Springs; son, Corey Harned (Cathy); grandchildren, Zachary, Hannah, Caleb, Blaise, Barak, Bernadette, Silas, Gretal and Ella of Laurel Hill, Fla.; daughter, Amy Baker (Craig); and his 10th grandchild, due in August, of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. Also surviving is his sister, Cherie Graves, and family of Washington, D.C.
Floyd grew up in Fort Worth, was active in sports at Northside High School, and went on to play football at Texas Christian University, where he graduated. He worked in sales, living in Colorado, California and North Carolina as well as his beloved Texas, and was an avid golfer as long as his health permitted. He never met a stranger and leaves many friends in Texas and in Florida.
He was a Baptist by faith, and remained a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas.
A private graveside service is being held for close family members.
