Evelyn S. “Pete” Baumann

Our amazing, beautiful Pete went to Heaven in her sleep on Oct. 18, 2013. Once a resident of Destin, she is preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Gladys Sawyer, New Brockton, Ala.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Rick Baumann of Santa Rosa Beach; brothers and sister, Jerry (Martha) Sawyer of Clinton, Miss., Mike Sawyer of Atlanta, Ga., and Judy (Larue) Curenton of Crestview; sister-in-law, Karen(Phil) Shinaver of Toledo, Ohio; brothers-in-law, Jay Baumann and David Baumann both of Toledo;  and many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.

Pete moved from Atlanta to Fort Walton Beach in 1968. She was a member of the first flight crew of Southern Airways at Eglin, later becoming the supervisor of flight attendants. Her incredible zest for life, empathy for others and love of animals were apparent to all who knew her. Her infectious smile and timeless good nature would raise everyone's spirits. All of us, friends and family alike, were truly blessed to have her in our lives.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Oct. 25 with services at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 480 North County Hwy. 393 in Santa Rosa Beach. Interment will follow at Gulf Cemetery, Santa Rosa Beach.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alaqua Animal Refuge at www.aarflorida.com.

Oh Junebug, what are we going to do without our Pete?
