Douglas Doven McCormick
Mr. Douglas McCormick, 50, passed away Nov. 10, 2012. He was born Sept. 11, 1962 in Mobile, Ala., to William and Nina Clements McCormick.
Mr. McCormick was a lifelong resident of Freeport and Pentecostal by faith. He was a very talented carpenter for many years. He enjoyed fishing and received the nickname “Mullet Doug”. He loved singing and playing the guitar which he named ‘Darlin”. He especially loved his grandchildren and he was very devoted to his family.
Mr. McCormick is preceded in death by his parents, one grandson Zane Alexander Newman and sister Julie Faglie.
Mr. McCormick is survived by his step-father Gerald Clayton Faglie “Pops”; his loving wife of 28 years, Jamie McCormick of Freeport; son, Jerad McCormick and wife Ally of Freeport; one daughter Jessica McCormick of Freeport; brothers William “Boots”: McCormick, Jr. and wife Casandra of Freeport and Johnnie R. McCormick and wife Terrie of Freeport; sisters, Aurelia F. Goodwin and husband Gene of Shelby, Ala., Pamela L. Canaday and husband Jimmy of Freeport, and Laura A. McMurray of Germantown, Md.; grandchildren, Aquirah Wilkinson, Kaidence Phinney, Payton Kyle Douglas McCormick, Marleigh McCormick, Ian Caldwell and Zoe Newman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Nov. 12 at New Beginnings Church, 1564 Hwy 20 West in Freeport.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 12 at New Beginnings Church, with the Rev. Louis Taunton officiating.
Floral arrangements are being accepted.
Burial will follow in the Black Creek Cemetery.
