Dory Dan Detton

Mr. Dan Detton, 70, of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., passed away Dec. 10, 2012. He was born Aug. 23, 1942, in Brigham City, Utah, to Dory Detton and Sally Hillam Detton.

Mr. Detton was Christian by faith. He received his Master’s degree and his PHD from the University of Utah. He worked as a psycho-therapist and was an author having authored multiple books. He was also a philosopher. He developed the very first artificial artery with Gore-Tex in conjunction with the Arizona Heart Institute. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed helping others. He also served as Karaoke Captain at the American Legion in Destin, Fla.

Mr. Detton is preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Charlie Morgan.

Mr. Detton is survived by daughter, Jessica Miller, and husband Sean Miller of Santa Rosa Beach; sister, Gay Ann Kennedy and husband Dr. Brent Kennedy of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandchildren. Nick Morgan, Ryan Morgan, Alex Morgan, Ryan Miller, Michael Miller, Kylie Marie Miller; nieces, Dr. Michelle Kennedy-Maak and husband Dr. Travis Maak, and Keri Kennedy. He is also survived by the mother of his daughter, Mary Zahasky, and best friend Mike Miller and the mother of his son, Sherri Morgan.

Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. Dec. 8 at Destiny Worship Center, 122 Poinciana Blvd. in Miramar Beach, with the Rev. Steve Vaggalis officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family to help with the expenses to Jessica Miller at Bancorp South Bank 13331 Emerald Coast Parkway, Miramar Beach, FL 32550.
