James Dennis Adams of Seagrove Beach, Fla., and Martin, Tenn., entered into eternal life Dec. 14, 2012, at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast in Miramar Beach. He was 62 years old. His family was by his side.

James was born on July 8, 1950, in Blue Island, Ill., to James Riley and Dorothy Newberry Adams. The family moved to Martin in 1960 where he entered school. It was there that he met his future wife, Gloria Lykins. They married on July 12, 1969, at Martin First United Methodist Church. Their marriage of 43 years was a blessing to their family. They have two children, Jeffrey Adams of Nashville and Tiffany Candace Adams Taylor of Seacrest Beach, Fla.

James was a graduate of Martin High School. He was a member of the US Army and the Tennessee Army National Guard where he retired after serving for 30 years. He was an honor graduate of several military schools. In recent years, he worked as a building contractor.

James and Gloria moved to Seacrest Beach in the fall of 2010 and have lived on 30A for the past two years. James had worked for friends along the beach as a builder during the time spent here. He was an accomplished designer, builder and artist.

James was a longtime member of Martin First United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Directors. In February 2012, he and Gloria, along with their daughter and son-in-law, Tiffany and Scott Taylor and their four children, all joined Point Washington United Methodist Church. He loved to tell all who would listen about his faith in God and his savior Jesus Christ. He thought it was important to tell of his life's struggles and how God had blessed him.

James leaves behind his wife, Gloria Lykins Adams; daughter, Tiffany Taylor; son-in-law, Scott Taylor; son, Jeffrey Adams; mother, Dorothy Adams of Martin; sister, Debbie Greenlee of Lakeland, Fla.; grandson, Jackson Taylor; granddaughters, Candace Caroline Taylor, Ashleigh Lauren Taylor, Allee Summer Taylor, and Grace Ellen Adams.
