Ruthanne Clarke was born July 8, 1946, in Newark, N.J., and entered eternal rest Nov. 6, 2012, in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., due to complications from diabetes.
She was the first daughter of Charles A. Clarke and Ruth Auer, and graduated from Ithaca High School in Ithaca, N.Y., in 1965.
She was predeceased by her parents, Aunt Jane Auer Gemelli and Uncle Bernard Gemelli (USN Ret. Lt. Comdr.), sisters Pamela Clarke Moon and Nancy Clarke Brown and brother Jon Clarke.
Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Mark Clarke and his family; brother-in-law, Stephen Brown and nephew Alexander Brown; and several nieces and nephews in New York and Florida, including a special niece, Sarah Moon.
Ruthanne started the first online Amputee Support Group in Walton County. She also touched many lives as an in-home childcare provider. She had a great talent for crocheting and created many unique dolls for lucky little girls, as well as Christmas carolers. She shared this talent by crocheting blankets, caps, and booties for infants to donate to Hope Lutheran Church's Layette Project. She was a devoted Christian who often arose to watch the sun rise and participated in Hope's Bible Study group. With her gift for gab and great stories, Ruthanne always made one feel what they had to say was important.
Memorialization was by cremation and services will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 14 at Hope Lutheran Church, 3422 US Highway 98W, Santa Rosa Beach (just west of Haven House), with the Rev. Jason Scheler officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hope Lutheran Church's Building Fund.
