Dr. Eugene Lyndon Crews
Dr. Eugene Lyndon Crews III of Atlanta, until recently of Seaside, died Feb. 23, 2014.
Dr. Crews was inducted into the Missouri Athletic Hall of Fame in 1962 for shot put as a University City High School senior; a Mystical Seven scholar athlete at the University of Missouri, inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2000;
He earned his medical degree and psychiatric residency at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
After service in the Navy, he was associate professor of psychiatry at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and director of UAB Psychiatric Residency Training. After moving to Atlanta, he gave decades of skilled and caring therapy to patients from all walks of life. Gene's smile and unforgettable laugh will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Jane Crews; daughters, Kate Crews Krause and Taylor Crews of New York, N.Y.; their husbands, Benjamin Krause and Jose Medina; grandson, Julian Krause; and sister, Grace Crews Corbin and her husband Gary Corbin of St. Louis, Mo.
A memorial service will be held in St. Louis in July.
