Robert E. Lee, III
Robert E. Lee, III, 91, of Santa Rosa Beach, passed away at home April 19, 2013. He was born on March 31, 1922, in Jefferson County, Alabama, and lived in Walton County for the last 19 years.
Mr. Lee was a retired business financial consultant. He began working on his father’s farm in Alabama followed by his service in the US Navy during World War II, both in the Atlantic and the Pacific.
Mr. Lee was a vital member of the South Walton Baptist Church in Santa Rosa Beach. He was instrumental in forming this church and loved to greet everyone every Sunday morning. He was a Baptist deacon for more than 60 years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Frances; son, Robert E. Lee IV and wife Debbie of Destin; daughters, Leslie Ward and husband Stanley of Atlanta, Ga. and Suzanne Kimbrough and husband Rob of Atlanta; brothers, Horace Lee and wife Pat of Hayden, Ala. and Frank Lee and wife Gladys of Bessemer, Ala.; sister, Isabelle Traywick and husband Jim of Birmingham, Ala.; grandsons, Scott Plageman and wife Walker of Atlanta, Max Lee of Austin, Texas and Trenton Ward and wife Courtney of Fairfax, Va. (Veronica and Mary Kathryn); granddaughter, Audra Cenac and husband Christopher of Houma, La. (Madelyn, Olivia, C.E. and Philip); four nieces; 10 nephews; and 36 grand- nieces and -nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Caroline Angel.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at 11 a.m. May 4 at South Walton Baptist Church in Santa Rosa Beach.
