LETTER: Volunteers, donations keep Caring & Sharing going

Published: Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 06:00 PM.

We are having a very busy year with assisting the needy families in Walton County. The families that we assist all qualify to Caring & Sharing regulations.

If they receive food stamp help, it is still very difficult to make ends meet, especially if you are a family with several children. This is where we come in and bridge the gap.

So far to date, we have given out 9,271 bags of food and have seen 5,277 clients who have needed, not only assistance with food, but also with clothing and furniture.

We are very fortunate that the churches in this area, private donations and the sales generated from our thrift store support us, but it takes all this and more to be a success.

Our food pantry is our main mission, so we are always very appreciative of any food items that are donated. We need your support especially now as we are getting organized for thanksgiving and plan to give out many food bags over that period of time, and again at Christmas.

We will be starting the angel tree sign-up this month, and if you wish to sponsor a child or children, please contact us at 267-2866.
