RON HART: Hot air and $50 million for an all-nighter

ROSEMARY BEACH — Right out of an episode of House of Cards, about half of Senate Democrats did what a big donor wanted. They pulled an all-nighter to give lip service to global warming. Hedge fund manager Tom Steyer (playing the role of Tusk) is said to be giving Democrats $50 million for their stunt.

“We’re not going to rest until there is action on the most pressing issue of our time, which is climate change,” said Hawaii Sen. Brian Schatz. The whole thing was a real Schatz show.

If it’s so important, why couldn’t Harry Reid muster the other half of his 55 senators to take part in the theatrics?

Global warming is an unpopular issue. Moocher Democrats voted for Obama to get free health care, not so they would have to pay more to fill up their new Cadillac Escalades with gas.

The party that says it is “for the middle class” continues to raise the cost of living for them by raising energy prices with their meddling. Regulations cost consumers $1.8 trillion a year (11 percent of GDP), which means higher utility, gas, and transportation bills for the average person. Limousine liberals rarely see gas prices because they rarely fill up their own limos.

To Democrats, not spending trillions to fix this climate change “crisis” of theirs is “immoral to future generations” — this from the party that continues to saddle our kids with $18 trillion in debt (and counting) caused by selfish spending.

I’m not certain about global warming, but I look good in shorts so I won’t fret it. Wasting trillions to fix a leftist-driven, trumped up “crisis” is nuts; it is not using our resources sensibly. Liberals believe it is wise to overpay for fuel, causing tens of thousands of energy workers to lose their jobs just so a caribou in Alaska does not have to look at a pipeline.
