Seascape Resort is a three-hundred acre golf, beach and tennis resort and known as the “best kept secret in Destin.” Developed in the mid-1970s, it’s one of the oldest resorts in the area. Jay Nettles, general manager of Seascape Resort, said back then, no one thought it was needed.
“There was literally nothing out here,” he said. “There wasn’t much development around, which made people skeptical. The four-lane highway didn’t exist, so when we built the resort, the only access was from the beach road.”
The only additions made to the Seascape Resort since its opening was a new golf shop and the high-rise condominiums, the Majestic Sun (added in 2001) and Ariel Dunes (added in 2006).
“We have a good balance now,” he said. “We offer high-rise, luxury units and private, older units, which can appeal to everyone. We’re a full-service resort — actually, the only resort that has on-site golf, tennis and the beach — and we still offer lots of open-space, wooded areas and lakes out of the congestion of Destin.”
And let’s not forget the beach — two-thousand feet of white sand.
“We have one of the prettiest beaches around,” said Melody Moriarity, reservations sales manager for Seascape Resort. “We have a team that cleans the beach every night, so it always looks great. We also offer lots of beach services — chairs and umbrellas, beach activities and watersport rentals — and don’t forget the local hotspot Whale’s Tail Beach Bar & Grill.”
Moriarity, who has lived and worked at Seascape for the past 8 years, said she has experienced the resort’s growth firsthand and how it has “made its own history.” And the one thing that keeps guests coming back, she said, is the employees.
“Our employees care about our guests,” Moriarity said. “We listen to them and try to provide them with the best service we can. We want them to be happy and to continue choosing us as their vacation spot, so we make sure the only thing they have to worry about is relaxing and having fun.”
And ever since it opened, Seascape Resort has been a family-friendly destination. It even offers pet-friendly vacation rentals, so even your four-legged family members are welcome.
“We are truly a kid friendly resort,” Moriarity said. “We offer lots of activities for kids of all ages. I live here with my two children and it’s so family-oriented. We love it and we feel very safe.”
