It's never too early to start making plans for Seaside 's premier sporting event — the Seaside School Half Marathon and 5K.

The tentative date for the 2015 race is scheduled for March 1.

Just months ago, more than 4,000 racers from more than 40 states and five countries participated in the event that will be celebrating its 13th birthday next year.

Although folks come from near and far to run the half marathon and 5K, it takes a more than 350 community volunteers to make it all happen as well as sponsors throughout the area.

The half marathon course is fast and mostly flat. This race is USATF certified, and will start and finish in downtown Seaside . From Seaside , the racers will run west along scenic Highway 30A, past the beach towns of Watercolor, Grayton, Blue Mountain Beach , and Santa Rosa Beach , with the halfway point and turnaround at Gulf Place .

The 5K course is also fast, flat and USATF certified, and will start and finish in downtown Seaside .

Both races are walker-friendly, and walkers are welcome to participate; however, there are no separate awards for walkers.
