POLICIES AND CONDITIONS
The Publisher reserves the right to revise advertising rates upon 30 days notice; all contracts are accepted subject to this policy. Customers remain responsible for payment of account balances, signing of contracts, and for all other documents when such is received by their agents. Advertising rates are non-commissionable. The Newspaper will not be responsible for more than one incorrect insertion of an ad. The sole liability and obligation of the Newspaper for any failure to publish any advertiser or distribute any advertising insert shall be to refund any amounts paid to the Newspaper for such advertisement or insert. The liability and obligation of the Newspaper for any other breach of these policies and conditions or act of omission of the Newspaper with respect to an advertisement or insert, including without limitation any mistake or error in a published advertisement or insert or untimely publication or distribution of an advertisement or insert, shall not exceed the cost of any such advertisement or insert, under the provision hereof. Advertiser shall be liable for all costs incurred by the Newspaper in collecting past due accounts, to include a reasonable attorney’s fee whether or not suit is filed. In the event the Advertiser does not use the amount of space agreed upon, the Advertiser agrees to accept and remit rate adjustment to earned contract rate.
CONTRACT AND COPY REGULATIONS
The Newspaper will not be responsible for errors in advertisements proofread but not corrected by Advertiser. We use a line screen of 85 for black and white photos, the resolution of must be at least 170 dpi. Photos can be sent on disk or E-mailed to sunart@link.freedom.com. Photos must be sent 100% of size to be used. Images can always be reduced, but not enlarged.
• Full color photos and art should be scanned and saved at a final resolution of 200 dpi. Grayscale photos and art should also be scanned and saved at 200 dpi. Line art graphics should be saved at 300 dpi. Using graphics at a higher resolution will not improve the appearance of your final product but will dramatically increase the amount of disk space your files will require.
• PDF Files: We prefer documents saved in PDF format. They can be e-mailed to: sunart@link.freedom.com.
Tips for sending files:
• Be certain your page size is correct
• Do not place items outside the margins set for your page. While such items may be visible on your computer screen they will be cut off when the page is output to film.
• Do not use PICT or metafile graphics of any kind. While it is true you may be able to print these on a laser or inkjet, they will not print to film
• Specifications for CMYK color mode for PhotoShop should be as follows:
¨ Select GCR: Dot gain 25%
¨ Medium black generation for photos
¨ Maximum black for graphics requiring a solid black (i.e. cartoons, art, drawings, etc.)
¨ Set maximum black at 90%
¨ Set total ink limit to 230%
• Most art or graphics downloaded and saved from the Internet are only 72 dpi and will pixelate when printed. Please do not use them.
• Be certain that your computer has all fonts used in your publication available at the time you prepare your PDFs or postscript files. Screen fonts will appear correct on your monitor but when printed to film will default to Courier. We recommend you avoid True Type fonts whenever possible.
• After preparing postscript files, distill them with Acrobat into PDFs before sending them to The Walton Sun. This will almost assure successful film output.
• Print a laser or inkjet proof to match the final files delivered to The Walton Sun as they are to appear when printed.
• The customer is wholly responsible for any postscript and PDF file submitted to The Walton Sun and the film it produces. When producing a file, make certain all fonts and graphics are selected to be embedded in the file. Failure to do so will result in fonts or graphics missing from the film when output.
¨ PC printer driver is: AGFAAccuSet 1500-A-8_4.PPD
¨ Mac printer driver is: AGFAAccuSet 1500-A-8_4.PPD
• Before supplying your files to The Walton Sun, convert your RGB colors to CMYK. RGB images look great on your screen and many professionals prefer to work on an image in the RGB mode. Most page layout programs do not even attempt to separate RGB images and if they do the results are not consistent. Covert your images to CMYK before placing them into a page layout document.
