It appears that one thing all people, whether you reside in the South or visit from the North, have in common is the discussion of the weather. The Emerald Coast has given us plenty to talk about lately. Mother Nature played a trick on the snowbirds who thought they left those freezing temperatures from whence they came.

If you missed last Monday’s registration, there will be one from 8:30-10:30 a.m. every Monday through Feb. 10 at the Faith Assembly Fellowship Hall, 306 S. Geronimo in Miramar Beach.

It is necessary to be a registered Walton County Snowbird in order to attend the next general meeting at 10 a.m., Jan. 22, at Destin United Methodist Church, 200 Beach Drive.

The not-to-miss entertainment for this meeting will be David Seering, unquestionably a Snowbird favorite, who has performed for our club in the past. Seering has showmanship ability and technique that very few performers can match. The meeting will end with your chance to win a door prize, collected by Jeannette Diggins and her dedicated team of canvassers from the very generous merchants along the Emerald Coast.

A couple of social events that are coming up in February are the Ladies Luncheon and the Valentine Day Dinner Dance. Tickets for both events are available now at all registrations and the general meetings. The Ladies Luncheon, which will include a fashion show plus door prizes, will be held at noon Feb. 7, at the Embassy Suites Hotel on Scenic Highway 98. The Annual Valentine Dinner Dance will be on Feb. 15, at the Sandestin Hilton Hotel Ballroom with The Mike Mancini Band providing music for your dancing pleasure.

If you are looking for some excitement, a trip to the Golden Nugget Casino in Biloxi on Feb. 5, should be on your calendar. Bob and Eunice Collins have arranged for you to receive $20 free play for just a $15 initial fee. The bus leaves The Track at 6:30 a.m. sharp and returns there at the end of a full day of casino action. Sign up with Eunice and Bob at the next registration or call 850-450-5283 for further information.

Thanks to volunteers like the Collins, our members have opportunities to enjoy great activities.
