For the 12th year in a row, Nick's Seafood Restaurant and Treylermade Tournaments will bring hundreds of anglers from all over the southeast to participate in Old Nick’s Redfish Round Up, a one-day inshore fishing tournament scheduled for May 20.
The tournament will have a payout total $12,500 to the winning team or teams of each division.
Entry fee is $210 per two-angler team. Anglers must be registered and have entry fees paid by 7 p.m., May 19.
This tournament will start and end at Nick’s Seafood Restaurant at 7585 Highway 20 West in Freeport. Anglers may launch from their desired location, but must check in with the official boat between the hours of 5-7 a.m. to receive their tournament card before fishing. The official boat will be located behind Nick’s on Choctawhatchee Bay. Live wells will be checked at the official boat. Once checked in, anglers may begin fishing. All fish submitted for weigh-in must be of legal size between 18 and 27 inches and caught the same tournament day.
Weigh-ins will be held at Nick’s Restaurant from 4-5 p.m. Fish will not be judged before 4 p.m., and any team not checked in by 5 p.m. will be disqualified. Fish must be alive and in good condition upon weigh-in. Each team may only have the tournament limit of two redfish in their possession at any time during the tournament.
Teams will be scored on the heaviest total weight of two redfish weighed in together. Dead fish will receive a one pound deduction per fish upon weigh-in.
There is also a “spots division.” The largest spot count per single redfish will be eligible for this division. However, the angler has to declare which fish he wishes to enter in the spot count.
A portion of proceeds from this fishing tournament will benefit healthy local waterways and the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance.
