Casey Palmer may not put the most points on the board, but he swarms around the court looking for the open man that can.

"I'm not a big shooter," said the 18-year-old senior point guard for the South Walton High Seahawks. "I'm not going to be the guy that has eight 3s. I don't look to shoot the 3-pointer. I like driving in and looking for that open man that can get the momentum going.

"Defense is my strongest," Palmer continued. "That's where I feel most comfortable. And I don't mind guarding the big guys," said the 5-foot-11 son of Doug and Cathy Palmer of Santa Rosa Beach.

Just last Friday against North Bay Haven, Palmer put six points on the board but he led the team in rebounds with eight.

"He's a hard nose, hard working kid with a great attitude," said South Walton Coach John Davies.

Palmer has been in the program at South Walton for four years and started playing on the varsity as a sophomore.

"He's one of our point guards," Davies said, noting he's got several players that he rotates in and off the floor most every night.
