The Holmes County Blue Devils connected for 10 hits to blast the South Walton Seahawks 15-0 in varsity baseball action Tuesday evening in Santa Rosa Beach.
Junior Miles was the big stick for the Blue Devils with a double and two singles. Other big hitters for Holmes were Ty Russ with two singles and an RBI, and Jordan Worthing with two singles good for three RBIs. Kodi Russ cranked a three-run homer over the center field fence in the bottom of the seventh.
South Walton, on the other hand, struggled at the plate connecting for only three hits. Dustin Allen led out with a single in the first inning. In the second, Fletcher Wilson ripped a single to left and the last hit for the Seahawks came in the bottom of the fourth with Joe Canalego hitting a single to right center.
Holmes County scored one run in the first and then picked up three in the third. In the fifth inning, the Blue Devils scored two runs on a single by Worthing for a 6-0 game.
In the top of the seventh, the Blue Devils put the game away with nine runs on five hits, with a few walks and hit batters in the mix.
South Walton got a couple of runners on base in the bottom of the seventh on walks, but couldn't get a runner across the plate.
The loss drops the Seahawks to 11-12 and 6-6 in district play.
Up next for South Walton is the district tournament that begins Monday at Liberty County High in Bristol.
