Two South Walton Seahawk football players were recently named to first-team All-State by The Associated Press.

South Walton junior quarterback Johnathon Ortner and senior wide receiver Sage Roberts were both named to first-team offense, filling out the 13-player lineup.

"It's good for our program," said Phil Tisa, South Walton coach and athletic director. "It's definitely a motivation factor. Hopefully it will keep your local kids in house and they want go to another school.”

This is the first time in about seven years that a Seahawk has made first-team All-State, Tisa said. In 2006 Juwayne Tanner was selected as an offensive lineman.

The Seahawks are coming off a great season with a 7-4 finish including a trip to the playoffs.

At the helm of the offense this year was quarterback Ortner who threw for 2,796 yards and 38 touchdowns. He also rushed for 317 yards and carried the ball in for two scores himself.

As a wide receiver for the Seahawks, Roberts caught the eye of voters with 73 catches for 980 yards and 14 touchdowns.
