The numbers are there and should add up to a good season for the South Walton Seahawk football team.

"We've got pretty good numbers this year," said Seahawk Coach Phil Tisa. South Walton has 49 in the football program, 28 on the varsity and 21 on the junior varsity.

"We're looking OK. We're just getting used to the bumps and bruises of getting to hit again," Tisa said while walking around the practice field Wednesday afternoon.

"But things are coming along," he added.

Out of the 28 on varsity, the majority are returning players. He said they have about six returning starters on offense and about five starters back on defense.

As for skilled returnees, Tisa noted players such as wide receiver, halfback and backup quarterback Sage Roberts, a 6-foot-1 senior; Alex Smith, a 5-foot-10 junior wide receiver and defensive back; and Johnathan Ortner, a 6-foot-1 junior quarterback.

With a good number of players comes the possibility of depth.
