Sally Ruth Hinton Coleman

Sally Ruth Hinton Coleman, 73, of Birmingham, Ala., passed away Feb. 18, 2013.  She was born Jan. 3, 1940 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Mrs. Coleman lived for the past 8 years in Birmingham.  She spent much of her life residing in Florida in cities that included Winter Haven, Panama City Beach and Seagrove Beach. She was Episcopalian by faith.

After graduating from Tuscaloosa High School in 1957, she attended the University of Alabama where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.  She was also a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority where she served as treasurer and vice president. In 1960, she married James Kynerd Coleman Jr. at the First Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa. Early in her career, she was a caseworker for the State of Alabama Department of Pensions and Security. She later worked as a real estate sales professional in Florida.

Mrs. Coleman was the daughter of Robert Stanley Hinton and Hazel Felts Hinton, of Tuscaloosa, both of whom preceded her in death. 

Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, James Kynerd Coleman Jr. of Seagrove Beach.

Mrs. Coleman is survived by her sons, James Kynerd Coleman III and wife Kimberly of Vestavia Hills, Ala., and Sebron Hinton Coleman of Panama City Beach; daughter, Ashley Coleman Bates and husband Reed of Mountain Brook, Ala.; sister, Comella Hinton DaLee and husband Donald of Waleska, Ga.; and grandchildren, Marisa Coleman, Margo Coleman, Caroline Bates and Coleman Bates.

Graveside services were to be held in Walton County Feb. 24 at the Point Washington Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.

Mrs. Alice Stark

Mrs. Alice Stark, 69, passed away Feb. 21, 2013. She was born Nov. 24, 1943, in Quantico, Va., to John Hugh Campbell II and Mary McLendon Campbell.

Mrs. Stark was a resident of Seagrove Beach, Fla., and was Presbyterian by faith. She worked in modeling for many years and also as a manager in retail sales before retiring. She was an avid animal lover, giving a home to many homeless cats and dogs.

Mrs. Stark is preceded in death by her father, and sister, Margaret Annette Campbell.

Mrs. Stark is survived by her mother, Mary McLendon Campbell, of Seagrove Beach; son, Jack Richard Shinolser, Jr. and wife, Janet, of Woodbridge, Va.; brother, John H. Campbell III and wife, Josee, of Temple Terrace, Fla.; sister, Mary Campbell McClintock of Seagrove Beach; grandson, Daniel Mitchell; niece, Gabrielle Campbell; nephew, John Albert; and many extended family members in the DeFuniak Springs area.

Family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Feb. 27 at Clary-Glenn Freeport Funeral Home Chapel.

Memorial services will be held 6 p.m. Feb. 27 at Clary-Glenn Freeport Chapel Funeral Home, 150 East Highway 20, with the Rev. Joel Glenn officiating.

Floral arrangements are being accepted.
