A Walton County sheriff's deputy has been charged with child abuse, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The victim, a minor, reported Monday that Christopher Strawn battered him earlier that morning while the victim was getting ready for high school, a Sheriff's Office news release said.
The victim had abrasions on his neck, deputies reported.
Witnesses said the two began to argue in a vehicle before the victim ran into the home on Roberts Drive home and locked out Strawn.
Strawn got into the home and went into the victim’s room. The argument turned physical when Strawn “held down the victim in an attempt to calm the minor down,” the Sheriff's Office reported.
Witnesses said the victim had had behavioral problems for some time, the Sheriff's Office said.
Strawn was taken to Walton County Jail and was released on his own recognizance, according to the jail.
He has been placed on administrative leave pending an administrative investigation.
