Locals who live here year 'round or most of it enjoyed getting together for a last hurrah before the official tourist invasion this weekend.

I got in some pool and beach time last weekend, and it already looked like it was filling up. I saw Peter and Stephanie Burke, Donna Macdonald, and Judi Sikora there.

Jim and June Milam hosted a small get together at their beautiful Gulf Place home last Thursday night. Tom Saffel, Keith and RoseAnn Knight, John Stasko, Jane and Doug Anderson enjoyed the hors d'oeuvres, wine, and ambiance, inside and out. Everyone learned a neat new trick from June, who showed how to get fresh corn on the cob hull and silk free in a matter of seconds.

Sunday night, Keith and RoseAnn Knight hosted a neighborhood party at their home in anticipation of their annual trek to summer in the mountains of north Georgia. Jim and June Milam, Claudia and Brad Droy, Mike and Carol Stovsky, Dianne Smith, Carla Ravarino, Sharon Thompson, Charlie and Elizabeth Montgomery, Ann and Tommy Melancon, Cheryl and Bill Freeze, and John Stasko enjoyed and sang "happy birthday" to Keith. Dianne baked a hummingbird cake for him.

Sunday night, I was watching HGTV and who should appear on the channel but local entertainer Ron Adams. The station did a feature on Ron and his lavish Destin home.

Ron Hart has had his picture taken with some celebrities recently, including Barney Frank and Karl Rove.

I saw Joan Vienot and Diane Grey Page at ArtsQuest on Mother's Day.

Scott and Leslie Provow are just returning from a fabulous week in Tuscany.

Gypsy Diane Grey Page is back at her beach house in Eleuthera for a week of rest following her showing at ArtQuest, then on to Charleston, S.C. for a video shoot. She will continue her aerial silks studies with an aerialist with Cirque de Soleil in Montreal the first week of June, then pack and leave for Boston for the summer where she has nine shows to do, mostly on Cape Cod.

Wish a "happy birthday" today to Gulf Place diva Dana Saffel.

Tomorrow to fisherman Mark Thompson.
