The Walton County Sheriff’s deputy who ran over a woman on the beach last month has been found at fault for the accident and will face disciplinary action.

Sheriff’s Office officials released the review board findings Monday morning. The board met on Friday to read over the accident investigation conducted by the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP declined to cite or criminally charge Deputy Chad Biernacki in the incident because the beach wasn't within its jurisdiction, but did conclude he was at fault for what happened.

“There will be a suspension, I’m just not sure how long,” said Walton County Sheriff's Maj. AJ Smith.

Biernacki has been on active duty until the review board could look into the accident. Details about the disciplinary action are expected later today.

Biernacki, 30, had written several notices to appear to underage drinkers just west of Pompano Joe’s restaurant when drove over the right half of Jessica Nystrom of Destin.

Nystrom was taken to Sacred Heart of the Emerald Coast with serious injuries and has since been released.
