Throughout the summer, Sunburst Beach Vacations sent out a suggested itinerary to its guests called the “Guide to Summer.”  Not surprisingly, the Seaside Repertory Theatre had an event almost every day.  Whether it was a children’s theater performance, their mainstage show “39 Steps,” or special events like “The Bryan Kennedy Show,” the Rep featured a variety for the Sunburst guests.  That contribution to the community is an important reason why Sunburst is hosting its 2nd Annual Membership Drive Party.

This Oct. 9, Sunburst will open up one of their Luxury Homes, Sea Sabella in Seaside, to host a membership party for the Seaside Repertory Theatre.  The event will feature food by Pascalli Foods, music by Forrest Williams, along with drinks and an opportunity for a guest to win a stay in the Gulf front home.

“The Rep has continued to put on quality programming and events throughout the years,” says Sunburst co-owner Steve Howard.  “Our role is to help grow their membership base to support that programming. After the success of last year’s membership party, we didn’t hesitate to offer to host it again.”

For the Rep, the party offers a great chance to raise money and awareness of their professional theater.

“Everyone at the Rep is excited for the upcoming members only Party,” says Rep Board Member Mark Schnell.  “Last year's party was a lot of fun and a great success for the theater. This year's party will be similar to last year, but with some new twists. The big prize will once again be a one-week stay at the beautiful Gulf-front Seaside house, Sea Sabella.”

The party is open to current members of the Rep with memberships being offered at the event for those looking to join.

“The purchase of memberships and raffle tickets will get you into the party and give you a chance at winning prizes,” Schnell explains. “But they also help support our community's professional theater. Just like any theater, ticket sales only cover part of the Rep's operational costs. In order to keep providing the great arts and entertainment that residents and visitors have come to expect, we need your help. The easiest way to help is to become a member, which comes with benefits like admission to this party and discounts on most Rep tickets.”

Sunburst wants to ensure that the arts remain strong in Walton County. Brook Stetler, the Seaside Rep’s artistic director, believes his theater serves that purpose.

“The Rep is supporting the growth and success of the arts in South Walton,” Stetler says as he sits in the 75-seat theater.  “Because strong communities have strong arts presence.”

The Fall Season at the Rep marks the opening of “Den of Thieves” (Sept. 27- Oct. 20, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25) and the Lowcountry Comedy Tour (Oct. 12, 13 at 10 p.m. and Oct 14 at 9 p.m. Tickets are $20) with more information about both shows at or by calling 850-231-0733.
