The iconic powdery white sand beaches will once again play host to the 30A 10K & 1 Mile Fun Run on Nov. 28 (Thanksgiving Day) in Rosemary Beach — and Walton Sun readers have a leg up!

The 10K course begins and ends in Rosemary Beach and travels on Scenic Route 30A through the neighboring communities of Alys Beach and Seacrest.  The 1 Mile Fun Run starts at 7:30 a.m., 10K starts at 7:35 a.m. At 6:45 a.m. County Road 30A closes to vehicle traffic.

About 1,500 registered so far with a maximum capacity of 2,000 for the event. Register online at Race registration ends Tuesday, Nov. 26 at midnight.

The Pearl, the new ultra luxury boutique hotel in Rosemary Beach, Fla., will host packet pickup and the Expo to take place on Wednesday, Nov. 27 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. The free expo is open to the public and will feature the Gear truck, surprise “photobombs” by the 30A 10K Turkey Mascot, a raffle featuring a YOLO Board and Big Daddy Cruiser Bicycle, a giant Gigi’s Penguin and complimentary yoga classes with lululemon athletica ambassadors.

All proceeds benefit three charities — Donations 4 Danny, Food for Thought and Lighthouse Family Retreat. 

Last year, the 30A 10K raised $18,000 and donated the proceeds to Donations 4 Danny, a charity that supports the medical needs of South Walton fireman Danny Margagliano who is a quadriplegic.

Lighthouse Family Retreat is an organization that serves over 200 children with cancer and their families by providing 14 retreats a year on Scenic Highway 30A.

Food For Thought Outreach feeds school age children in need every week through a backpack program.
