In response to the letter in The Sun last week about foul language at sporting events: I will agree with the principle of the authorís concerns. What I find truly appalling is that citizens and taxpayers seem to be more concerned about uniform policies and extra-curricular activities than they are about the education of their children.

The Florida school districts are operating at enormous losses each and every year, in great part due to the costs of these athletics programs. Our children need to be able to read, write, and do math (without technological assistance), as not many of them will be the next Michael Jordan, Emmett Smith, "the Rock" or what have you.

One day these children will be in charge of your Social Security and taxes! How can the schools and/or school districts get their priorities straight, when the citizens and parents don't have theirs straight?
