The South Walton Community, known for always stepping up and giving to those who need help, is being called on to help two of our own this weekend.
The first of two fundraisers is being held at The V Seagrove from noon-4 p.m. in support of The V's Executive Chef David Cunningham and his children. The family recently lost wife and mother Andrea.
David and children Tobie and Owen, 11 and 7, are attempting to move forward following their recent loss.
"They have expenses from the death that insurance will not cover, and the loss of half the family's income," said Josh Forman, one of the event's promoters.
The event consists of a shrimp boil and chef's potluck with a silent auction and cash bar. Tickets are $25/adults and $10/children. Ticket prices include beer, kids' grill, and live music.

A second benefit will be held Sunday afternoon beginning at 4 p.m. at Pandora's in Grayton.
This benefit will be an evening of neighbors and friends coming together for Dave Brown, who is preparing for aggressive chemotherapy in his fight with cancer.
Brown's friend Mark Thompson said that Brown is a local Grayton Beach carpenter who has lived in the area for more than a decade.
"He is totally out of work right now and will not be able to work for six or seven weeks," said Thompson. "He needs our help."
Thompson said the event is getting a lot of support from local businesses. Thompson has donated a fishing trip and there is artwork and other items.
The event will consist of a silent auction, a dinner of chicken and fish with sides, Dollar-for-Dave drinks, and music by The Steenos.
Tickets are $10 per plate.
