Shelter House rape crisis center



Shelter House is now the certified rape crisis center for Okaloosa and Walton counties after receiving official notification from the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence.



Shelter House added a full-time sexual violence program coordinator to our staff and put all of the existing advocates through rigorous training on working with sexual violence victims. As always, all domestic and sexual violence services are confidential and provided at no charge to participants.

Restaurants commemorate second season of ‘Emeril’s Florida’



Eight South Walton area restaurants, Seagar’s Prime Steaks and Seafood at Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa; Crust Artisan Bakery in Santa Rosa Beach; 723 Whiskey Bravo in Seagrove; Marlin Grill in Sandestin’s Village of Baytowne Wharf; Havana Beach Bar & Grill at The Pearl in Rosemary Beach; V Seagrove; Raw & Juicy at Seaside’s Airstream Square; and Chan’s Wine World at Grand Boulevard in Sandestin, were presented with an outstanding achievement award for their national recognition on Season two of “Emeril’s Florida.”



The awards, courtesy of Visit South Walton, were presented with a custom designed plaque and a commemorative photo with Emeril Lagasse highlighting each restaurants spotlight.



“The local businesses featured in the show are extremely deserving of this recognition,” said Jon Ervin, director of Marketing and Communications for Walton County TDC. “It is an honor to be included as one of the state’s appealing restaurants by Emeril, South Walton is very proud of these restaurateurs and the national recognition they bring to our destination.”



Visit South Walton wins 5 ADDY Awards 



Visit South Walton was recently recognized with five 2014 American Advertising Federation Emerald Coast Chapter ADDY Awards.



VSW received Judge’s Choice Awards for “Meet You in South Walton” meetings market brochure and “Savor South Walton” Culinary Excellence Award showcasing local talented chefs.



Three Gold ADDY Awards were received for “Junk to Funk,” Andy Saczynski’s Artist of the Year poster;   “Meet You in South Walton” brochure; and “Savor South Walton” Culinary Excellence Award.



 “We have very talented and hardworking individuals on the Visit South Walton team,” said Jim Bagby, executive director of the Walton County Tourist Development Council. “To have a respected organization of professionals in the community acknowledge our work is an honor.”
