Owning a pizza shop was never in the plans for Jeff Goodman. A self-proclaimed redneck from Alabama, Goodman came to the area when he was only 23-years-old, planning to wait tables here during the summer. But, as life happens, after a few chance encounters and a big opportunity later — he was the owner of Bruno’s Pizza, the very first pizza shop on County Road 30A.

“I was at the right place at the right time,” Goodman said. “And now, almost 25 years later, I wouldn’t change a thing. I don’t know what else I’d be doing if I wasn’t working here — it’s truly a great place to be.”

And it wasn’t only the delicious pizza that made Goodman stick around.

“Working for yourself, making your own schedule, living at the beach… I definitely can’t complain,” he added.

Bruno’s Pizza opened in Seagrove in 1990, and after 23 years Goodman decided to relocate to a bigger space in WaterSound. A risky move, he said, but a much-needed growth.

“We simply ran out of space,” Goodman said. “We outgrew our shop in Seagrove — the 760-square-foot space with only 22 seats. We should’ve moved a long time ago. Our customers are much happier here. We have much more space and are sales have increased by nearly 25-percent.”

And most importantly, the pizza hasn’t changed. Bruno’s Pizza continues to deliver the same high-quality, fresh pies they’re famous for.

“Our pizzas really stand apart from others,” Goodman said. “We make our own dough and sauce every morning, blend and shred our own cheeses and use the freshest produce we can get our hands on. Everything we do, we make it all in the store. Our prices may be a little higher, but people come in here and know they’re going to get quality food.”

Bruno’s Pizza is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and offers a lunch buffet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The restaurant is located at the front gate of WaterSound Beach, 6652 E County Hwy 30A. For more information, visit their website at www.brunospizza30a.com or call 231-1452.
