With the cool autumn weather finally upon us, you may be more inclined to cozy up at home with a good book, and now is the perfect time to get some “new” books!  The Friends of the Coastal Branch Library is holding a book sale this Saturday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  There will be something for everyone, whether you are a fan of best-selling fiction, non-fiction, or are looking to expand your child’s (or grandchild’s) library.

You can join the Friends at any time, including the day of the sale, for only $10.  As always, the proceeds from the book sale are used to purchase new books and media for the library; the library relies solely on the Friends to purchase all of its books and media, since there is no county funding for these items.

A fun activity for kids is “Pajama Time Story Time,” which is held every Monday evening at 6 p.m.  Ms. Cheryl will read bedtime stories to pajama-clad children while they relax and unwind with their parents, grandparents or other caregivers.

Another fun activity for the youngsters is the pre-school story time. This fun event is held every Thursday morning at 11 a.m. in the meeting room. In addition to stories, there will be light refreshments and a craft time.

On Nov. 1, from 1 to 4 p.m., the library will be hosting free Medicare Counseling in the meeting room.  The Florida Department of Elder Affairs’ SHINE program (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) and The Northwest Florida Area Agency on Aging, Inc., have joined together to provide free Medicare counseling and informational materials to adults approaching age 65. A trained SHINE counselor will be available from 1 to 4 p.m. to assist individuals in choosing a supplemental policy, selecting a prescription drug plan, or to explain how to receive financial help with Medicare premiums and prescription drugs. To make an appointment, simply stop by the Coastal Branch Library, or call 850-267-2809. For telephone counseling, call the Northwest Florida Area Agency on Aging at 866-531-8011 for an appointment.  This program will also be held on  Nov. 15 and Dec. 6.

The Coastal Branch Library is also home to some crafty groups.  The Quilters Group meets on the first Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the meeting room, and will be meeting on Nov. 7.   The KnitWits knitting group is in the meeting room on the second and fourth Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.; in November, those dates are Nov. 5 and Nov. 19.

Make sure that you don’t miss any of the exciting programs at the Library by checking the calendar at http://www.youseemore.com/walton/calendar.asp?cal=47.
