The South Walton Beaches Wine & Food Festival is gearing up to feature some of the most highly-acclaimed wines and winemakers from around the world, April 25-28. Coordinated by Chan Cox of Wine World, the four-day, charity event will feature renowned winemaker Peter Mondavi Jr., co-proprietor of the Charles Krug vineyard in Napa Valley.

"I started coming to Chan's wine event 26 years ago and have returned for key dates over the years," said Peter Mondavi, Jr. "It has been great watching the festival evolve and seeing the impressive growth. Chan's festival is bigger than a local wine event. It draws winemakers and wine lovers from around the world."

Charles Krug, operated by the Peter Mondavi, Sr. Family, is renowned for Bordeaux-style wines brimming with great fruit, amazing balance and food-friendly compatibility.   The Peter Mondavi Family has effected tremendous enological and viticultural innovations over six decades, including vintage dating varietal wines, cold fermentation for white wines, and fermentation in small French oak barrels and glass-lined tanks.

"We are thrilled to have Peter Mondavi, Jr. join us and have Charles Krug represented during this commemorative year," said Cox, the festival organizer. "The wine festival at Grand Boulevard will be larger and broader in scope than other wine festivals I have coordinated in the past. In addition to showcasing some of the best vineyards in the world, we are bringing a larger focus on culinary programming and food pairings."

The South Walton Culinary Village will include an array of food tastings, wine pairings and demonstrations. Renowned local, regional and national chefs will participate in cooking demonstrations and programs that teach participants how to bring out the best in wine through pairings with food.

"The great springtime weather and fresh gulf coast seafood creates a perfect pairing for our St. Helena-Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc, which enjoys a citrusy note and pairs beautifully with fish," Mondavi shared.

Peter Mondavi,Jr. will participate in events throughout the weekend, including the VIP event, the Grand Tasting, a bottle signing and a wine seminar at the Savor South Walton Culinary Pavilion.  During these events, Mondavi will feature some of their best vintages, including the 2010 Charles Krug Cabernet.

Mondavi will be featured alongside other nationally and internationally recognized wine personalities and industry experts, including Charles J. Chuck Wagner, owner of Caymus Vineyards, Anthony Truchard II of Truchard Winery, KR Rombauer III of Rombauer Vineyards and Joe Davis, winegrower and winemaker of Arcadian Winery, Lompoc, California.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation, which raises money for more than dozen local charities, serving children in need in Northwest Florida. For more information on the South Walton Beaches Wine & Food Festival or to purchase tickets, visit
