Dave Rauschkolb hosted the first Taste of Seaside last Wednesday night at Bud & Alley's to celebrate the presence of food critic writer John Mariani. All the restaurants in Seaside participated and attendees enjoyed a wonderful spread of food from oysters to chicken. Lynn Nesmith, Susan Benton, Leah Stroble and Willie Mason, Pam Avera, Pam Thompson, Lori Smith, Johnny and Debbie Earles, Rosemary Williams, Robert and Daryl Davis, Carol and Dave Rauschkolb, Kelly and Billy Buzzett, Jacky Barker, Lisa and Gerald Burwell, and Mary Jo Kirby were there. Yummy crab cakes and white wine.

The following night I enjoyed the hospitality of Sergio's Little Italy restaurant at its reopening celebration in Uptown Grayton. The Frutti di Mare, Classic Caesar Salad with anchovies, Veggie Lasagna, and Chianti were fabulous.  

The Hidden Lantern hosted an artist reception last Thursday night for its annual juried Back to Nature exhibit, "Scenes of South Walton." Coop and Peggy Jones, Donnelle Clark, Robin Wiesneth, Rene Endres, Didon Comer, Joan Vienot, Lori Drew, Melody Bogle, and Maunsel and Karen White attended. Congratulations to Melody Bogle for winning Best in Show.

The Cultural Arts Alliance's newest A+ Art opening, Top of the Class juried art show, at Northwest Florida State College was last Friday night. Betty Cork, Robin Wiesneth, Susan Lucas, Donnelle Clark, and Joe Serrato attended that. Congratulations to Mara Viksnins, who won Best in Show there for her "Tickling the Ivories."

Beth Coppedge celebrated her big birthday with her annual turtle party at Wild Heron last Friday night. Coop and Peggy Jones, Didon Comer and Hank White, Maunsel and Karen White, Harriet Crommelin and Stephen Marlette, Brenda and Jim Radtke, Tom and Dana Saffel, and Nina and Garrett Horn helped her celebrate.

Florida Public Relations Association local chapter hosted its monthly meeting Tuesday at Bud & Alley's, with guest speakers Robert and Daryl Davis. Michael Dobson and Demetrius Fuller, Jami Ray, Lynn Nesmith, Tom Dodson, Claudia Caswell, Willie Mason, Zandra Wolfgram, Nancy Stanley, Tracy Louthain, Sarah Bailey, Teri McCall, Shaye Smith, and Erica Pierce enjoyed the talk and the lunch. The crab cakes were yummy.

Congratulations to Tasha Johnson and Silas Breaux on their nuptials last weekend on Grayton Beach.

Brenda Ratdke and Pauline Sutcliffe helped Kris Chavez celebrate her birthday last week.

Coop and Peggy Jones traveled to the furniture mart in North Carolina. Peggy’s "Lake Series" will be featured in the High Point, N.C., furniture market 2013 and 2014 in the McKinley Leather Showroom.

Redd took her singing bartender show on the road all the way to Key West. It's an annual trek for the Vizards.

Ampy Cox’s son, Anthony Goicolea’s Brooklyn home is featured in Cottages-Gardens magazine.

Lane Rees attended the Texas A&M International Board meeting last week, and had dinner with high school friends, several conversations with students he has mentored, past and present, and lunches with business friends. This week he goes to North Carolina for the Annual Meeting of the Foundation for Evangelism. He is immediate past chair.

Cindy Meadows attended the Gulf Consortium meeting in Tallahassee. Commissioner Sara Comander is Walton County's Board member. There was discussion about the Governor's desire to appoint seven members (from other counties) and the Chair.

Jackie Lynch and Karen Brommer are back from Highlands, N.C., where they loved seeing the fall colors and waterfalls. They also visited Esther Kolko in her new home in Hoschton, Ga., and went to Cashiers, Scudder's antique auction, the Bascom Art Museum, and enjoyed the Arts and Crafts Show in Highlands.

Barbara Rowan went to Universal Studios in Orlando and thought of me when she saw the likeness of Brenda Starr at Comic Strip Café. She sent me the picture she took. Thanks for thinking of me!

Sympathy is expressed to Beverly Schmitt in the death of her dad, and to Barbara May in the loss of her brother.
