Sinfonia Gulf Coast enters its eighth season of musical programming on the Emerald Coast with a special performance Oct. 10, featuring Epic Records recording artist Morgan James. James, one of the most sought-after singers on the music scene today, returns to the Sinfonia stage following her debut at last season’s “Broadway Holiday.”
James’ vocal talent transcends multiple genres including classical, jazz, soul, R&B, Motown and Broadway. Broadway credits include the original casts of “Motown the Musical,” the revival of “Godspell” and “Wonderland,” as well as starring opposite Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth in “The Addams Family.” As a solo artist, she has played to sold-out crowds at New York venues such as Birdland, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at Lincoln Center, Below 54, Dominion, Joe’s Pub, Le Poisson Rouge and Rockwood Music Hall. James’ critically acclaimed debut CD, released last year, features the music of the late American jazz singer and songwriter Nina Simone.
The setting will be the recently renovated Seagar’s Prime Steaks and Seafood, which is the event’s presenting sponsor. The restaurant, at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa, will be transformed into an intimate cabaret theater. The evening will include a champagne toast and four-course dinner featuring the classic steakhouse cuisine for which Seagar’s is known. Tickets are $150 and include food, wine, gratuities and the performance. The evening starts at 5:30 p.m.
